Austin Blues & BBQ Festival

Welcome to the first edition of Austin Blues & BBQ Festival - This dance festival is unique to Texas’ culture by exalting the synonymous history of both our blues and barbecue: true intimacy and connection, shared ritual, loud self expression, warmth, hospitality, and a damn good party!

ABB’s goal is to grow our blues dance community, support live Blues musicians and highlight Austin's unique culture. We are introducing a comprehensive experience of the blues in order for dancers to not only build a responsive relationship to our local musicians, but also develop connection to the body, and one another. After all, Blues is a Black American art form that was born into the world over a 100 years ago as a sign of life, belonging and connection. We believe strongly that the core of human experience is shared through music, dance and food. So what better way to invite people to experience a culture than to allow them to taste it, feel it and listen to it?
